Now in its ninth year and continues to dominate primetime television, American Idol has become a giant television ratings and Coca-Cola, AT & T and Ford anchor sponsors, is an impressive corporate marketing and advertising machine.

Idol has created a new business model for industry music. This paradigm is: the introduction of new artists through television, the contestants "exposure, branding and development funded by corporate sponsors, with viewers voting to select the finalists in the annual series and the winner – who is given a lucrative recording contract and will sell million CDs.

And while Idol boasts nine of its alums platinum (selling a million or more units of an album), led by Country Pop "American Sweetheart" total of 11.5 million CDs sold Carrie Underwood, that in itself is not a strong track record. Taking into account the thousands of contestants presented to Idol auditions, the hundreds of people who actually participate in their hearings and the unique ability to market their contestants Idol to millions of viewers week, Idol must have at least 20 by now platinum artists. Or, at least a dozen. And lately it seems that there are some significant cracks in the marketing machine Idol.

A fundamental flaw of the idol is that it allows fans to vote multiple text, so Idol "Millions of votes" on any given night, are actually inflated numbers – especially with pubescent girls and conservative voters fill in the polls with multiple votes for all "safe" environment road-artists. This skews the vote of the idol and makes it very difficult for the most talented, but nervous or controversial artists as Adam Lambert, Chris Daughtry to win their respective competitions, both deserved to win but did not. Multi-text messages is very good for AT & T uses the network and revenue, but a flawed voting system.

Multi-Idol voting has also made them vulnerable to those who make a parody of itself. There are at least one blog site that proud to choose the weakest candidate Idol from the beginning, and encourages fellow blog stuff the ballot box and keep that candidate in the race as long as possible. It was this kind of antics that Sanjaya Malakar remained alive in the competition season, far beyond the limits of human understanding and suffering. His goal this year? To activate the always smiling, Tim Urban musical talent the winner of this season. The response to these abuses? Limit the number to each text in each show.

The third thing wrong with Idol is that while the judges often punish the contestants to choose songs inappropriate for their gender and capabilities personal instruct judges Idol singers choose their songs incompatible to their areas of comfort and skills. The judges have their young followers choose the songs arcane chapters of the American song with soul singers singing Dolly Parton. Or Neil Diamond. Or, rockers singing vintage Motown. Has an independent panel of industry experts select latest songs and gender-specific for all candidates-from the early rounds.

A fourth thing wrong with Idol is that in their fervor to capitalize evident the success of joy, lumps in a group of young singers sing-alongs horrible, again, in genres that have nothing to do with the skills of the singers or styles. First, Idol judge is not supposed to be based on whether a competitor is a good fund or studio session singer. Supposedly, the show is looking for great singers they are – or could be unique and successful artists. Thus, forcing them to participate in these insipid sing-alongs is both counterintuitive selection process for all Idol – and forces the audience to hear the painful performances cheesy vocal reminiscent of "The Lawrence Welk Show. The solution? Stop the nonsense group sing-along.

The fifth thing wrong with Idol is that at the end of this season, Simon Cowell goes. However biting, Cowell is the judge who properly understands how to match talented contestants songs and genres. It is also the only judge who does not mind sacrificing to be agreeable to impressionable young contestants give honest constructive criticism. His criticism of cutting wit and insight will surely be missed.

While Randy Jackson has been in the music industry for years and is a nice person, who can name an artist who discovered or produced – or was hard platinum thanks to your efforts? And while Kara Dio Guardi has certainly had a number of courts of record, most have been with Pop R & B female artists, which hardly be called "cutting edge."

2) Having industry judges selected the more contemporary material and gender-specific competitor.

3) Put an end to the miserable group sing-alongs.

4) Increasing competition and the annual award to a winner in four categories may vary widely: Alt-Rock, R & B Pop, Country and Gospel. It's just stupid to have an artist in the country competing against a Pop-R & B or Alt-Rock act. Why not give the best talent in each specific genre, instead to try to judge "chalk against cheese?"

5) Expanding the jurisdiction to include groups in various genres. There are certainly some great Alt-Rock R & B pop and country acts out there that deserve a shot at the big time.

6) Add a judge or two who has more "street cred" – Some sharp instincts and solid track record.

If Idol is willing to make these changes, we believe that you can restore its credibility in delay and extending its network to include sharper bands and artists now ignores or can not now compete fairly.
